I needed rest but I wanted to make up my sleep at night and not take a cat nap in the middle of the afternoon. During my research I found out that at least for some people (I didn’t really have this issue) common incandescent lights present a huge problem. Observe the spot for 10-15 seconds, then close your eyes and try to hold the mental image of it for about 2-3 seconds, then open your eyes and repeat. Now after 1 month and 6 days i see little better pictures and when i hear song my mind alone visualise moments from music video, i did not have that before. Always been able to dream now and then. And your own natural abilities can be developed to serve you in your own unique ways. I started to see a line (vague, but it’s there) in complete darkness (including my eyes closed). Now, you can refine your practice and put more focus on the faculty you want to strengthen… in this case your ability to reproduce imagery in clarity. 1,5 hours a day sounds too much but I noticed that if you trully want it, you don’t even think about it. My images are still dark and blurry, but sometimes I can see full color and sometimes there are images that come up unsolicited. I am truly desperate to learn how to visualise. Key is to stay with it for at least 14 days to see somewhat of an improvement.This, unfortunately, takes long to develop but daily practice will pay off. In the past, whenever I would close my eyes I could still see the shadows of people passing by and my mind’s eye was very bright. A Thoughtful thought process along with imagination and life's situations all together makes it a creative recipe for visualisation of a possible outcome. Please try practicing with some ‘real’ but simple objects (spoon, dice, perfume bottle, …). But yeah, going into a dark cave for a period of time was, like, a rite of passage in some cultures and it totally makes sense. If you won’t get anything at all, try this: As it is with learning anything else, trying too hard and keeping it too serious can stunt your progress. The more your practice the easier you can transition from an after-image to a controlled mental image. Now, I’m glad you want to find out for yourself if you can turn your inner light ‘on’ again. I’m an artist and have been creating for quite some time. If you constantly dig for details, then… you get the point. 1. The most vivid memory in that short period of time was music blaring and a colorful dancing stereo. I feel the need to feed my eyes with lots of images, such as films, paintings, drawings and I am quite imaginative. Try changing the number or font on the phone screen, color of the flame, lighter design, etc. The stop light that just turned red This is a fun but helpful game to play to start sharpening your psychic awareness. I think it may be a dissociative symptom of clinical depression and depersonalization. Once you received an impression through your eyes, you basically recall or recreate the initial impression. When I listen to some artists, the lyrics they sing form images in my mind. It should help you understand what a business model is, how your own business works, and how you can visualize it to help others understand what you do. Etc. I am doing the same but I visualise better with my eyes open than closed eyes. Here are my results so far. 1. Don’t give up on it and keep at it. I drawn a triangle on A4 paper using a black marker. While you may not be able to see things straight away, you may find you can sense, touch, and feel them. What did you do after you left the house? William Walker Atkinson teaches in his books a great deal about perception and observation and clearly states that observation is a skill that can (and should) be acquired by anyone who is willing to put some time into it. But interestingly: after closing my eyes, first 3-5 seconds were dark. I imagine things all the time. Sometimes I try to go for 30-40 sec and make a blinking motion (like snapshot) every 3 sec. Here is a brief description of my progress so far. Again close you eyes and visualize the corrected image of you cellphone. And/or how to make choices during the “fog of remodel?” I’ve been looking at photos, bringing the materials on site as much as possible, plus standing in the space to visualize. What can you do with it? We are mostly concerned here with the self-manufactured visualization that you can shape, create, control through mental effort… thus enabling you to harness its power to improve your life through, for example, braking bad habits, inciting passion, memorizing, envisioning your ideal future, etc. Very, very strange feeling – like you actually see through your hands. Obviously if I observed it straight on upright so would the words be upright but then if I physically flip it upsdie down the words would be upside down. Never have I referenced an image seen in my mind’s eye. I found it more difficult. But myself, I actually never watch the videos. or just think about the colour? The bottom line: First you have to push yourself all the time and whittle away at the resistance and blurriness. Are you sure it would work if I practice persistently ? I dont worry even if after 6 months or more i couldn’t get pictures becouse i know there should be something wrong! There’s this thing that happens after a while, where you switch your conscious attention from your actual eyeballs to your mind’s eye. Would love to know more about how your visualization is going too. Now, observe that shape calmly for a moment. I will try this again but I do not know when and I will definitely be more cautious. In your experience once you were able to see static images could you then rotate them at will on auto pilot without having to porcess the manual rotations. One has more melonan than another. But everyone is different. All “flashes” are places and people/faces I don’t remember (none of them are familiar – little bit strange). Keep on using your mind’s eye every single day. Stay relaxed. – The questions are rhetorical. Is still blurry and I have no idea what exactly is. I want to share my experience here. The rare times I see color, it’s in the wrong place. Recall and internally describe the colors, and the shape etc.The more details you can recall the better. But once you experience you’re making an actual progress it’s like opening a door into a new world of possibilities. Let’s work on getting better. But in terms of remember auditory details, i’m really bad, i struggle to remember the conversations i had (i can remember what we talked about in summary, but i almost never can remember the exact words of the conversation). I also practice a lot on stationary objects. – After 15-20 minutes, I see the screen (very blurry) for ~1 second. Did you try to visualize with open eyes? For some people black and white images seems to be easy to replicate. No one understands. This works for me when I realize I try to see with my eyes instead of my mind. I believe most people use mental rotation to help in driving and eliminate some of the intentional processing that goes on if you don’t see the image and rotate it in your head. , Hi David happy to see all of your efforts, like you I have practicing image streaming for around 6 months even if I did only 20 min, I saw some results,I started dreaming once again, something that didn’t happened to me for years, the result are small, but they are real, I should probably try to mix with others exercises as well, by the way, many believe that image streaming also improves iq, I can’t see any difference, but do you feel any improvement on your cognitive abilities? Now, thanks to this guide, I realize that there are different facets of visualization that need to be improved separately; this simple truth changes everything. So that’s all new experiences for this week. I find I’ve made progress, but I do wish the images were longer than 30 sec. Personally, I didn’t have those skills before seeing any images. If this exercise works, it would be a major breakthrough. I’ve tried the candle exercise for the first time tonight (I’m leery of looking at a candle as it can burn your retina if you do it too long). Of course you can choose some relaxing meditation music to boost your level of relaxation while doing the other exercises. Start maybe with 2-3 paragraphs a day until you get better. I feel that SOMETHING must be going on subconsciously…. I read the books about visualisation – I read and listened to everything I could find on the subject. If you can't imagine things, how can you learn? Now open your eyes and call yourself from the other phone. Personally, I think I had the biggest breakthrough with the videos from the HonestGuys. 1. The key is deep relaxation when you see that movement (swirlings/cascading) – so that’s why 15-25 minutes is what I need using meditation to enter in that state of deep relaxing. 5. —————————————————————————————————————————————————– It’s still very grainy and black but it has improved! Persistence is the key. Feels like the image is in your head, but you actually see through your hands. When you reached a state of calmness and relaxation, focus on your mental imagery. I noticed that when i “visualize” my past day, i remember a lot of things i have seen, even if with very fast and quality-missing images, maybe because i always had a great visual memory. I don’t know, maybe you’ll condemn me but I’ll lay this out anyway: Couple weeks ago, I went abroad and tried ‘magic truffles, tampanensis’ (where it is legal) to see if I could visualize. Books are usually full of very detailed descriptions of people, places, objects, etc. I think it purely takes part in your mind only and, if you focus on the backs of your eyelids, you might prevent yourself from getting the best results. Learn how to visualize. If you’ve read his book, you know he asks you to imagine your goals in your mind as clearly as possible. Another exercise, I did for quite some time, is to imagine toy blocks, turning them, stacking them on top of each other, and so on. Not even when I was a child. Eyes Opened & Eyes Closed (Try it now.). The more often you listen to one, the more “color” you can fill in over time. I’d say, “sensing” is part of visualization. The more you resist unwanted images the more the unwanted images try to appear. Even if it’s fading instantly, fact is, you will be able to see something. Also, do you think using black and white images is a good exercise instead of a candle? I’m curious, when you recall your dreams in the morning (lucid or not) do you recall them in images? Nonetheless, I remain committed to daily practice for another five months. Some people may say, they don’t see a thing in their mind, but rather sense things and even have control over those sensations. The image seems actually visible, and not imaginable, as I always had before. #– I haven’t felt anything special to say that visualisation works BUT it gets a solid score because I get deeply relaxed every single time. I will continue that maybe for 9 months, But i cant remind how powerful my visualisation was at the begin, maybe it slightly helped becouse i have not moments with near zero visualisation which i had at begin, but visualisation is still weak. And the best part is that I was “lucid” at one point, I knew that the instant Ill move my back from the pressure mat I’ll wake up. But here’s a secret and important lesson, you don’t need to be able to “see” images in order to learn how to use visualization. Later: staring at my iMac (thinking at my entire life, little `depressed` because of this aphantasia), from time to time I closed my eyes – I could see few times something like stones, including the texture. I always suggest to experiment with different exercises and see for yourself what works best for you. I like to imagine a canvas (white, back, blue, ..) because somehow it helps to have the canvas’ texture to ‘paint’ on. I did the candle, colors and shapes exercises for 15 minutes a day. These ones appear randomly and only for a split second. . I did the exercises for a while and nothing. Usually I just download the mp3 and listen to it on my phone while lying on the bed. I tell you after i get more progress, but for me very important is that this exercises to see any changes can take more than just 1 month, before when i stop train imagination after 1 month, i dont saw any progres and stop with thinking i will never done that. In the Remembering Your Dreams course, Dr. Metivier talks about writing your goals/desires down in a journal every day so I’ve started that. It’s generally very simple, but if you can’t do it for whatever reason, you may try to move a shape in any direction until it is no longer in the field of view. I am a total Aphantasiant and have never experienced my mind sensor of any sort. Perhaps, every night, when you go to bed, rehearse your daily “wins” by reviving them in your mind adding the successfeeling to it. It’s the best one I’ve found about aphantasia. And yes, I guess it can’t hurt to improve the efficiency of your visualization by enhancing clarity and focus. You also can’t do any pushups if you haven’t used your arms for 10 years. Now let’s learn to “dissolve” them, that means make visualized shapes vanish at will. When I come back to sleep, before jumping in my bed, a VERY vivid shape appeared in an instant, basically without any reason (visible with my eyes closed or open for 10-15 seconds): many coloured bubles rotating all together in a cylindrical shape.
